In person
With a note, read softly.
A courier rings the bell of the person you’re spoiling and hands them the gift, no one in between.
If you’d like, they then read the note you wrote by hand. Your name appears nowhere else.
Gifts delivered by hand in Larch Harborand 20 miles around
She didn’t see it coming.
Then came your note.
An Aparté courier carries your gift anywhere in Larch Harbor and up to 20 miles out, then reads the note you wrote by hand. That’s the only place your name appears.
The moment
The second before it sinks in.
A knock at the door. A courier hands you a box with your name on it, then unfolds a card and reads it to you, softly. The words are tender, and the handwriting looks familiar.
The signature comes last, at the very bottom of the card. It’s the only place the sender wrote their name.
Then the courier slips away, leaving you the paper to tear, the box to open, and the smile that shows up before the words do.
“You’ll find their name at the bottom of the note.”
Aparté exists for the instant it all clicks. The trip matters less than the door that opens at the end of it.
How it works
Brought to the door, or set aside.
Set aside
With a keeper down the street.
Nobody home? The gift waits with a keeper, either a partner shop or a vetted neighbor. Then the recipient:
- gets a digital card announcing the surprise;
- stops by the keeper whenever it suits them;
- gives their code, good for 7 days, and walks off with it.
If no one shows up, the gift finds its way back to you.
